Statement Collection

Redemption is a visual tribute to heritage, freedom, and ancestral strength. Created in honor of Juneteenth, this piece reflects the journey from bondage to liberation—both historical and spiritual—through culture, symbolism, and identity.

Structured in intentional sections, the canvas weaves together traditional African influences: red fields featuring mud cloth symbols, green spaces inspired by Kuba Kingdom designs, and yellow elements rooted in Swahili language and meaning. Each area represents legacy, wisdom, loyalty, and resilience—threads of history that continue to shape the present.

Inspired by “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley & The Wailers, this work echoes the song’s message of self-emancipation and collective remembrance. Redemption serves as both reflection and declaration—a reminder that freedom begins within, and that honoring our roots is an act of power.

This piece invites viewers to stand in that truth: to remember where they come from, to recognize the strength carried forward, and to celebrate the beauty of cultural identity reclaimed.

Creating Redemption

Frozen in Time is an abstract meditation on memory, stillness, and the moments we wish we could return to. Structured geometric divisions frame a quiet winter night—moonlight resting over a snow-covered landscape, suspended in silence and reflection.

The contrast between sharp lines and soft atmospheric gradients mirrors the way memory works: fragmented yet vivid, distant yet deeply felt. Inspired by “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron, this piece captures the ache of nostalgia and the longing to pause a moment before it slips away.

Frozen in Time invites the viewer to sit within that stillness—to honor the beauty of what once was, even if it can never be revisited in the same way.
